The purpose of a diesel fuel filter is to protect the injection pump on diesel vehicles.
Diesel fuel filters eliminate impurities and ensure the separation of any water contained in the diesel fuel.
In addition, diesel fuel filters fulfil other functions meeting the specific requirements of each application: heating, pressure regulation, priming, water level detection, etc…
Filtrauto develops its products in partnership with the major automobile manufacturers. Filtrauto’s expertise in the field of diesel fuel filtration covers conventional injection systems (distribution pump) as well as the new common rail systems.
Through the use of the chevron pleating technology and the constant improvement of the filter media used, Filtrauto can provide solutions tailored to increasing demands and to longer filter replacement intervals, while maintaining a minimal filter volume.

At the heart of filtration lies the filter media.
The system used by Filtrauto is always top-quality paper
with performance adapted to the specific needs of each application.



A filter is characterized by its capacity (the amount of pollutant it stops) and its efficiency (the filtration finesse). These two criteria and the volume of the filter are the three characteristics to be balanced. Filtrauto possesses all the necessary know-how to propose the best possible trade-off :

With its suppliers, Filtrauto produces new media to meet today’s increasing demands. By using synthetic media, a definite improvement in filtration efficiency can be obtained.

The “chevron” pleat

Using its original pleating technique: the chevron or v-rib, for a given level of efficiency and capacity, Filtrauto offers a smaller filter element size. The solution is deal due to the problems of the limited space encountered in the engine compartment.

Diesel fuel heating

When the temperature is low, heavy diesel fuel particles solidify. The paraffin formed in this way represents pollution of the fuel stopped by the filter. Inevitably, this phenomenon would cause the filter to be blocked and the vehicle to come to a halt if there were no heating device.

FILTRAUTO proposes a variety of diesel fuel heating methods using different sources of energy. The electric heater uses resistors through which the fuel is made to flow. Water heating consists in placing an exchanger between the fuel and the water of the engine cooling system. The recirculation method reinjects the flow of diesel fuel heated by the injection pump into the filter.

Organized in project groups, Filtrauto has the latest design facilities (CAD, structural calculation, thermodynamic simulation) including prototyping and validation.

The facilities offer high performance and they are modular so as to offer an optimum response to the specific requirements of each customer (data exchange, specific testing, etc.).
