Because of the significant increase of global traffic and the inevitable worsening of pollution levels, we are exposed to many pollutants which enter vehicle interiors through ventilation or air conditioning dusts. Extended exposure to high pollution is disagreeable and can affect the health of car occupants.

To address the needs of consumers with respect to pollution, Filtrauto has developed a line of filters capable of retaining particles, including the very smallest (smaller than a thousandth of a millimeter) such as pollen which can trigger many allergies, irritants, carcinogenic soot, and finally bacteria. This type of filter guarantees that the air is kept pure and maintains an optimum level of cleanliness inside the compartment.

Accordingly, Filtrauto has developed a set of test units for accurately measuring the performance of its products.

The filter blockage curve (1) shows the pressure drop of a filter according to the mass of dust it collects. Gradually as the filter prevents particles from passing, its pressure drop, i.e. its opposition to the passage of air, increases to a limit value corresponding to its service life. The service life of a good filter must be considerable.

A filter is also characterized by its fractional efficiency, i.e.its aptitude to stop certain sizes of particles (2). A good filter has high fractional efficiency, in particular for small particle sizes.

Using its extensive test facilities, Filtrauto is able to carry out thorough investigation and constantly optimize its filters to obtain high performances.

To guarantee that the air in the interior is pure at all times, the filter needs to be replaced regularly, as soon as the build-up of particles of dust, soot and pollen leads to a pressure drop incompatible with acceptable performance of the vehicle’s ventilation system.
